Offshoring and rightshoring come in many guises. The popular public image is of something driven by cost alone so core tasks end up outsourced to far-flung places – but it needn’t be that way. Business drivers including innovation, professionalism and educational excellence are also hugely important.
This is where Scotland becomes a key region to consider in the outsourcing mix. As this report suggests, its world class universities, quality of life for residents and dedication of the authorities make it competitive with a great many of the obvious traditional outsourcing regions.
