The new issue of Intelligent Sourcing will be hitting doormats any time now and the focus is on innovation – and the editorial team is already working on the next one, due in June, with a focus on shared service centres (SSCs).
With this in mind we noticed that the World Bank has created over 200 jobs in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the opening of a new SSC according to Bne Intellinews. This will be the second such SSC the bank has opened.
Criteria as always included a quality workforce with a solid education, culture and geographical location. The other SSC is in India and is devoted to accounting and other support operations, whereas this one will be devoted to OT support.
The principle is to leverage economies in which it is possible to live reasonably on incomes that are lower than those of many other economies, cutting costs without impacting lifestyles.
